Story of Mysterious Lonar lake formation
- One day a gigantic meteorite rushed towards the earth. It was fast and furious. It hit the earth at a speed of 90,000 km per hour. That high energy impact shook the earth and made an enormous crater. It also flicked a few pieces and created smaller craters around it. Over many years the water streams and rainwater filled this deep crater and formed into a lake. Ever since this lake has been a religious and scientific attraction. The folklore is that there was a demon named Lonasur after whom this place was named “Lonar”.
