How exactly germs make us sick?

Viruses and bacteria can enter the body through the nose, mouth or from broken skin. When they enter a human or an animal body, they make copies of themselves.

We then start attacking other human body cells and that’s how viruses make you sick too.

Scared?

Not to worry! They can’t make you sick every time they enter your body. Our immune system has white blood cells that act like the police for guarding your body against us. Once the white blood cells see us, they get alert. And then, they send antibodies that wipe us out.

Fun Fact

Viruses are said to be so small that 500 million of them could fit on the head of a pin.
