Meerkats love to eat scorpions. But the venom of scorpion can kill them, so how did they learn to eat them? Their elders had taught them the most important lesson of their lives, “Eat scorpions without getting stung.” The elder Meerkats teach the pups how to handle the dangerous prey.
On day one, the young pups are given the dead scorpions to eat. When they grow a little older, they are given alive but injured scorpions, with their stinger removed. As the pups mature, the elders give them the live scorpion without removing the stinger. They have to pull out the stinger on their own. Soon, with a lot of practice, the Meerkat pups become experts at eating the scorpion.
